The brand I would like to introduce this time is a brand where the designer, a manga otaku, has seriously incorporated his favorite things into his clothing.

Manga is familiar to Japanese people, but many people are concerned about what others think when they wear it.

I was so shocked by a brand called THE SUGAR PUNCH that it overturned my petty embarrassment.

Rather than a print that stands out, the design is natural and blends in with the body, with a texture that looks as if it has aged over time, making it reminiscent of vintage clothing.

WHO IS SUGAR?

He specializes in designing high-end clothing for street and mode, and is currently active mainly in the field of graphics that utilize his diverse background in street culture, music, and manga.
In addition to designing for numerous brands and select shops, he is also in charge of direction. His designs incorporate manga and anime as sources for his impactful yet familiar graphic designs that are reminiscent of vintage clothing such as band T-shirts. He also utilizes his knowledge of clothing to incorporate graphics into his carefully crafted wardrobe, including materials, patterns, sewing, processing, and printing methods. By incorporating genres known as subculture into harmonious clothing, he creates a synergistic effect and pursues the highest quality wardrobe that matches modern styling.

THE SUGAR PUNCH STORY

The brand name was chosen to pay tribute to THE JAPAN PUNCH, a satirical comic magazine founded in 1862 by British artist and cartoonist Charles Wirgman. "JAPAN" = "Sato (the most common surname in Japan)" = "Sugar" = "SUGAR" - hence "THE SUGAR PUNCH". The brand's mission is to bring out and amplify the appeal of the original works that designer SUGAR respects by creating fashion-conscious merchandising for IP titles, including manga.
